The River Hawks lost a hard-fought game to Hutchinson by a score of 2-1 in overtime.

North Wright County scored just once despite numerous opportunities.

Both teams scored once in the second period. Hutchinson drew first blood only for the River Hawks to answer back with the tying goal by Brinna Martin.

In overtime, Hutchinson got the game-winning goal about halfway through the extra period. The River Hawks dominated play, outshooting Hutchinson 42-14. Hutchinson only cleared double digit shots on goal late in the third period.

“It’s hard because the girls played so well; they played really hard. We had 42 shots on net. We’ve just got to learn how to start putting those shots in the net,” head coach Cailyn McCauley said at the conclusion of the game.

The River Hawks had a second game canceled because of a snowstorm. NWC returns to action after Thanksgiving on Saturday against Holy Angels.
