STMA’s first Signing Day of the 2016-17 school year was a big one; 10 out of 11 students (Jake Allar will sign at a later date) took part in the event.

The list: Maddie Gallagher (University of South Dakota, swimming), Macie Gavic (Bethel University, volleyball), Grace Haakenson (Judson University, golf), Lizzy Heil (North Dakota State University, track/cross country), Rae Johnson (Iowa State University, basketball), Anna Keefer (University of North Carolina, track and field), Jack Kelly (Northwestern University, baseball), Max Lezer (University of North Dakota, swimming), Carson Wooters (Concordia University, golf), and Taylor Zack (Concordia, golf).

Several students were excited and relieved to finally sign their letters.

“It’s a great weight off (my shoulders),” Lezer said.

“I’m really excited for next year,” Johnson said.

“I’ve been looking forward to this day for a while, and it’s just nice to have everything done,” Heil said.

“I love University of South Dakota and I can’t wait to be a Coyote,” Gallagher said.

“I’m really excited to start the golf season this year and move on to the golf season in college,” Haakenson said.

“I’m glad the pressure’s off my shoulders and I can just get excited for next year to compete,” Keefer said.

“I’m happy that it’s over with, but it’s super exciting being up there, so it’s all good,” Kelly said.
