St. Michael-Albertville took first for the third year in a row for the Section 8AA Championships finishing the meet with a score of 470.
Right behind STMA was Brainerd at 410 points and Elk River at 320 points.
Some highlights for STMA include —
- Max Lezer taking first in the 200 free and 500 free
- Will Gallagher taking first in the 50 free and 100 free
- Drew Roberts taking 2nd in the 100 breaststroke and advancing to state
• Ryan Everly taking first in the 100 fly and also getting first in our 200 freestyle relay with the team of Will Gallagher, Gabe Dalluge, Ryan Everly, Max Lezer and our 400 freestyle relay with the team of Will Gallagher, Nate Morgan, Ryan Everly, Max Lezer.
For the first time ever Nate Meyer broke 5:00 in his 500 coming just shy of the state qualifying time. Michael Benusa broke 1:00 in the 100 fly and Ezra Dickerson broke 1:00 in the 100 backstroke. All athletes who competed over the weekend swam season best times and many accomplished lifetime best swims.
The Knights qualified six individual and two relays to the MSHSL Championship Meet this coming Friday and Saturday. The athletes who qualified for the meet include Max Lezer, Will Gallagher, Ryan Everly, Gabe Dalluge, Nate Morgan and Drew Roberts. Alternates will include Zac Trushenski, Cole Herman, Kam Loven, Ezra Dickerson, Trevor Lefebvre, Nate Meyer and Luke Woods.
