STMA picked up wins 12 and 13 by defeating Edina 76-65 on Tuesday and Duluth East 70-66 Saturday, losing to Rogers on Friday night.
The Knights emerged from a halftime tie to beat the Edina Hornets 76-65 Tuesday night.
A strong game from Michael Asbury helped STMA score 47 points in the second half after a 29-29 tie at halftime. Asbury scored 21 points, Asaba Chomilo had 16, and Mitchell Kartes scored 11.
ROGERS
Despite a balanced scoring offense with four players reaching double figures, the Knights faltered down the stretch and lost a tough game to Rogers by a score of 61-56.
A close first half ended with the Knights as the better team sporting a 30-26 lead. Early in the second half, the Royals rallied to take the lead 41-35, and they would not lose it.
In the end, the Knights ran out of time to come back and fell to 12-12 on the season.
“They really turned us over and took us out of what we wanted to do there in the second half and they were able to go on a spurt and run away from us at the end,” head coach Derek Johnson said.
DULUTH EAST
STMA ended off the week by coming back to defeat Duluth East in overtime on Saturday.
After going into halftime trailing by four points, the Knights spent the rest of regulation trying to come back and win the game. After another half, the teams were deadlocked at 55-55.
The Knights struggled in the first overtime, trailing by four points with just 30 seconds left. Xavier Thurman rescued STMA with a pair of big drives to send the game into a second overtime.
In double OT, the Knights edged the Huskies 9-5 to take the 70-66 win, getting to 13-12 in the process.
Thurman was the big scorer for the Knights with 20 points. Cody Mattson had 16 and Asaba Chomilo and Mitchell Kartes each had 11.
The Knights finished the regular season Monday night at Big Lake.
