North Wright County experienced all three results that a game can have. The team defeated Cambridge-Isanti 5-1 on Tuesday, lost to St. Francis/North Branch on Thursday, and tied Moorhead on Saturday.

Tuesday’s game against Cambridge-Isanti was another one where the River Hawks dominated shots on goal, posting 43 to just 18 for the Blue Jackets.

Lexy Fuerstenberg and Sydney Lemke (Camryn Wilson) gave the River Hawks a 2-0 lead after the first period with a goal each.

Brinna Martin (Mackenzie Bourgerie) extended the lead with a power play goal, which was followed up by Samantha Och and Martin again later in the second period.

Chloe Nelson (Brook Wedin, Sydney Nuebel) got a late goal for the Blue Jackets as the River Hawks coasted to a victory; their third of the season.

ST. FRANCIS

The River Hawks once again outshot the opponent, but could not get the offense rolling as in the past three games, losing 1-0 to St. Francis/North Branch.

The lone goal in the contest came off of the stick of Kaylyn Forliti toward the end of the second period.

MOORHEAD

The River Hawks came close on Saturday, but tied Moorhead 1-1.

Five minutes into the third period, Paige Saurdiff of the Spuds scored on a rush to give her team a 1-0 lead.

With time running out late in the third, Mackenzie Bourgerie scored the equalizer, and the game headed into overtime, where each team had opportunities to get the win, but could not do it.

The teams went a combined 0-7 on the power play. Anna LaRose made 17 saves for the River Hawks.

“Our girls played a really hard three-period game. They played well, we had a lot of shots on net, we outshot them; it just didn’t go our way, the goals in the net,” head coach Cailyn McCauley said.

The River Hawks played at Delano/Rockford Monday night in a rescheduled game, and then played at Anoka Tuesday night. The Hawks take their northern road trip to Brainerd on Friday and then Roseau on Saturday.
