National Signing Day fell once again upon the calendar of St. Michael-Albertville High School. Six students signed their letters of intent to the colleges they chose on Wednesday.
Sydney Tracy, a multi-sport athlete, chose South Dakota State University where she will continue her basketball career.
“I’ve had my decision made, so it’s nice to finally close this book and then finish this high school season and move on to SDSU,” Tracy said.
Whitney Perry, a track standout, also chose SDSU. She will continue her track career after finishing her senior season at STMA.
“It’s kind of scary to move on so fast, but it’s a good thing,” Perry said.
Mitchell McKee, whose story went viral last season, will attend the University of Minnesota for wrestling. He will captain the STMA wrestling team, in search of his third individual state title.
“I guess it’s nice to get it out of the way (the signing), and go forward with the season and know where I’m going next year,” McKee said.
Kenny Gudmonson, a lacrosse player, will attend Missouri Valley on a lacrosse scholarship.
“It feels pretty good. Don’t have to worry about looking for any other colleges or visiting, just got to focus on school,” Gudmonson said.
Kitri Zezza, a basketball standout, will continue her education and career at Minnesota-Crookston.
“It feels really great. I’m really excited to see what the future has and how the next seasons are gonna go,” Zezza said.
Anna Nietfeld, a central piece of the volleyball team, goes to the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.
