STMA runners compete at Isanti

With the “top 7” runners resting, the STMA Knights junior varsity runners competed in a varsity meet at Isanti hosted by Cambridge-Isanti Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The Knight boys placed 4th among 6 varsity teams, which was won by Mora with 23 points, followed by Buffalo-51, Cambridge-Isanti-64, St. Michael-Albertville-124, Pine City-130, and St. Francis-131. Senior Brian Colgrove led the Knights placing 20th individually, running the 5K in a time of 18 minutes 44 seconds. Colgrove was followed by Michael Youngberg (24th-18:56), Jeremy Backman (25th-18:59), Jeff Geiger (28th-19:01), Ethan Cornell (38th-19:26), Ethan Knutson (39th-19:36), and freshman, Jacob Thole (49th-20:00), to round out the scorers.

Belle Nyhus led the STMA girls by placing 11th overall, individually, as the STMA girls were 5th out of 6 teams in the girls 5K. Nyhus ran the 5K in a time of 21:42 and was followed by Brooke Johnson (17th-21:59), Glafira Mustyatsa (20th-22:19), Katie Zachman (21st-22:22), Emily Ruhland (29th-23:13), Claire Pelant (34th-23:39), and Lynnea Helman (36th-23:42).

The Knights varsity, junior varsity and junior high were to compete in the Mississippi-8 Conference meet Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Isanti.
