STMA’s Lady Knights soccer team got a shutout win against the Rogers Royals; the team that defeated them in the same game the previous season.
The Knights got two goals from Makenzie Langdok in their victory over Rogers Tuesday night.
Langdok got her first early in the first half, and the STMA defense kept Rogers off of the scoreboard to hold a 1-0 lead after the first 40 minutes.
Langdok notched another goal in the second half on an assist from Karley Mager. Once again, the STMA defense had to play a strong game and it did. The Knights won all three of their section games without allowing a single goal to the opposition.
Head coach Megan Johnson said that the team came out and knew it had to take care of business against the same opponent that defeated them last season.
“This was just an awesome win. Everyone had a lot of nerves and butterflies and the girls just came out here and they really played a great game, and they deserved every minute of it.”
The girls stayed and took pictures with fans, friends and family for several minutes following the conclusion of the game and medal ceremony.
The Knights played Minneapolis Washburn in the state quarterfinal on Wednesday night. The game was played at Farmington High School.
