STMA Supt. Behle named Administrator of Excellence

The Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA) has named Dr. Jim Behle, Superintendent at St. Michael-Albertville Schools, as a 2016 Administrator of Excellence.
Behle has received this award in recognition of his leadership, concern for students, and active involvement in professional and community affairs. He was recently honored for the Administrator of Excellence Award at a statewide recognition ceremony during the MASA/MASE Spring Conference, at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest, Brooklyn Park.
Behle’s achievements reflect his ability to lead important changes in the educational system. During his career, he led the development and implementation of Q Comp within his district and facilitated the hiring, retention and development of high performing staff. He as focused efforts towards staff development on evidence based practices that have the greatest effect on increasing student achievement and through collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents and community members the district is now ranked among the top achieving school districts in Minnesota.
In addition, hehas advocated for changes in Minnesota school funding by working closely with legislators and testifying at House and Senate education committees for greater equity in school funding.
Behle has been an active MASA member for six years. He has served as a member on MASA’s legislative finance sub-committee and participated in the Mentor Program for Region 6. He is also a member of Schools for Equity in Education having served as the legislative committee chair. He also has served as secretary for the St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club.
Behle holds a doctorate in planning, policy and leadership studies and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He received his bachelor’s degree in Spanish education from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Each year, MASA recognizes members for their contribution to public education. MASA is a professional organization of Minnesota’s school leaders whose members include over 900 public education and non-public superintendents, directors of special education, curriculum and technology leaders, other central office administrators, service providers, business partners and retirees.
